Keep fighting the good fight. I think my mum was in one of these places as an infant – I can find no records. Never could find out what happened to her mum either.
I am one of those babies sold by the Church to unsuspecting American couples trying to do a good thing.
You keep digging. Somewhere there must be records and my bet is that the “Sisters” know where they are. Try finding the women who left the “Sisterhood” I’m sure this racket had something to do with their leaving. Good luck. Know that the work you are doing is priceless and many of the victims are watching. Thanks.

if you cannot find records, chances are a birth cert was issued to the American woman stating she is the natural mother…but keep going.
It was all about the money- human trafficking really.

If you read the tactics she used, you may get a clue.
Think devious as a criminal would and you will find the truth.

This is ingenuous nonsense. The couples were American, but they were not unsuspecting, and they were not trying to do the right thing. As end buyers, the couples were active participants in the Irish Roman Catholic Child Trade, whose ‘donations’, actually fees paid for services rendered to the Roman Catholic Church, sustained and promoted the ghastly business from beginning to end.
It’s very convenient to blame the Church and its hierarchy. Without the willing participation of the buyers, there can never be a market for anything, from ivory to child pornography, to stolen children.
Just saw film Philomena. Good story. More films like this are needed to open the files of the Sisterhoods and the Church. There’s pain on both sides that needs to be relieved and responsibility that needs to be taken. There’s a new Pope now with some basically honest ideas. Maybe if we all acted as a group we could persuade him it’s time to heal old wounds before everyone is dead.
