Brilliant piece of writing on Budget 2013
The winners from today’s Budget:
- Middle aged wealthy people.
The losers from today’s Budget:
- Young Families
- Those with a disability
- Those with long-term illness
- Low income families
- Middle income families
- The Elderly
Fine Gael’s actions do not surprise me. I believe they are spineless and complacent.
I voted for Labour in the general election last year.
I voted for Labour on the assurance from my local Labour TD that a vote for Labour was a vote for leaving Child Benefit untouched.
If I thought any of the cuts today were to benefit the vulnerable in Ireland’s society or improve our Healthcare system, I would buckle down and accept them but every cent in savings today is going towards bank debt. This is not why I gave the Labour Party my vote.
Labour’s Eamon Gilmore promises no cut to Child Benefit days before the 2011 General Election.
